We Don’t Guess, We Test

Insight Discovery Subluxation Station at Thrive Chiropractic Studio in West GroveWe want to be absolutely certain that we have a very clear and thorough understanding of how your body is functioning. Only about 10-18% of the nerves in your body are sensory.

When a spinal misalignment (subluxation) is interfering with these nerves you may experience pain, numbness, or tingling. You tend to notice this.

And, for most of our practice members, this is what prompted them to call us in the first place.

However, the other 82-90% of the nerves in your body are either motor or autonomic. Motor nerves control your muscles. When a motor nerve is experiencing interference from a subluxation, you may notice muscle tightness, muscle spasms, weakness, stiffness, a loss of range of motion, or decreased flexibility. We tend to tell ourselves that we just need to stretch more or get a massage and these issues will resolve.

Autonomic nerves are the most important nerves in your body and are often the most overlooked. Autonomic nerves control all of your vital organs and vital functions. They are the nerves that are beating your heart, telling your lungs to breathe, controlling your digestion, guiding your liver, operating your eyes and ears, and so on. Basically, your autonomic nerves are keeping you alive! When an autonomic nerve is experiencing interference from a subluxation, we lose function in our body and our overall health suffers. We may or may not feel the effects of this right away. More often than not, we live with interference to our autonomic nerve system for YEARS before we ever experience the first sign of a problem.

We use state-of-the-art technology to assess the function of your nerve system. Your nerve system is the most important system of your body. You live your life through it. Every thought, every emotion, every action, every memory, every EVERYTHING is processed through your nerve system. It’s vitally important that you keep it functioning properly in order for you to maintain optimal health.

Surface EMG

The surface EMG measures the electrical activity of the muscles that support your spine. These muscles are controlled by nerves. This test shows the pattern of how energy is distributed through these muscles. The exam helps identify area and patterns of abnormal tension and stress. By precisely measuring muscle activity, your progress can be followed as your care progresses.

Thermography

The Thermal Scan is used to assess the Autonomic nerve system. It does this by precisely measuring differences in temperature along the spine. Since proper function of your organs, gland, and blood vessels is essential to healing and living well, this test gives your doctor a ‘snapshot’ of how this portion of your nervous system is working and how it is responding to chiropractic care.
